Quetico Park is one of the world's great wilderness areas renowned for the exceptional canoeing throughout its 4655 square kilometers. Among its tangled network of more than 500 jewelled lakes and countless rivers lies a land of dazzling cliffs, spectacular waterfalls and rare wildlife. Quetico Provincial Park, together with the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in the United States, forms the largest international wilderness preserve in the world. For thousands of years, the Park has served as a travel corridor for native peoples and, more recently, as one of the main routes to the west for European explorers and fur traders. The so-called Voyageurs' Highway runs through the Park.
