Don't miss the excitement of our Pico 2 Playa Expedition Training Week! For competitors with some AR under their belt, we'll step up the skills and endurance training during a staged expedition from Pico de Orizaba to the Gulf of Mexico, enjoying social and cultural evenings in camps, huts, haciendas, and hotels along the way!

PICO 2 PLAYA MEANS PEAK TO BEACH. On Day One, we trek straight up to elevation to a Refugio (stone hut) at 4200m on the slopes of Pico de Orizaba, a dormant volcano, the highest mountain in Mexico, and third highest in North America. From there, our route travels the volcanic and water-carved terrain from Orizaba, several hours east of Mexico City, and continues eastward through some of Mexico’s most diverse and awesome wilderness, to finish on the beach at Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico. Over the week we will bike, paddle, trek, traverse and rappel, raft, run, and navigate, meeting our support crew daily at pre-established camps, for classic Esprit dining, social and cultural experiences.

THE PERFECT COMBINATION OF TRAINING, ADVENTURE AND CULTURE! Participants will experience the world famous whitewater and canyons of the Barranca Grande and Antigua Rivers, get vertigo along some insane cliffs, ridges and gorges, ride some of the most thrilling and undiscovered mountain bike trails, and absorb the culture and hospitality of remote Mexican villages.

We’ll be staying in a variety of Mexican trekking and mountaineering accommodations, from a classic climber's hut in the shadow of Pico de Orizaba, to cozy and comfortable haciendas in remote villages like Monte Blanco and Jalcomulco (of course!), and adventure camps near our put-ins and take-outs in the Barranca Grande and Antigua River Valleys.
