Camp Frontier: Mexico 2009

Feb 28 - March 7:
Adventure Photography Week

March 7-14:
Jalcomulco AR Training Week

March 14-21:
Pico 2 Playa Expedition Training Week

Join Frontier Adventure Sports and Esprit Whitewater for any of our three weeks of tropical, all-inclusive Adventure Training Camps. The Adventure Racing camps will feature Lawrence Foster and Bob Miller, two of North America’s top adventure racers and course designers, and Trish Westman, one of Canada's top female racers. The Adventure Photography Week will feature Deddeda Stemler, one of Canada’s top adventure travel photographers. And ensuring the best possible experience will be Jim Coffey, rafting, paddling, ropes and first aid expert, and owner of Esprit Whitewater, and Geoff Langford, owner and race director of Frontier Adventure Sports.

For both the Adventure Photography Week and the Jalcomulco AR Training Week, we'll base our training, certification and cultural adventures from the idyllic mountain village of Jalcomulco, Mexico, nestled in the Sierra Madres, among canyons and river valleys.

And for the Pico 2 Playa Expedition Training Week, we'll step up the skills and endurance training during a staged expedition from Pico de Orizaba to the Gulf of Mexico, stopping in camps and haciendas along the way!

WHICH ADVENTURE RACING WEEK IS FOR YOU? Anyone with a basic level of cardio fitness and an interest in improving their outdoor adventure sport and safety skills could undertake either or both weeks. However, each week is designed to better serve specific participants.

New to Adventure Racing? The Jalcomulco Week is your best bet. Our flexible approach to instruction means you'll get exactly what you need in each skills component, while everyone learns the same tips and tricks specific to AR, and you'll leave with the confidence and certifications necessary for any race, including the biggies like Primal Quest, AR World Series events, and Raid the North Extreme. You'll need good shoes and a bit of cardio for the race on Friday!

Some Experience with AR? Either week would be valuable for you. The curriculum for both weeks allows for skill improvement at all levels, and the safety and first aid components are worth refreshing for everyone. The Jalcomulco Week offers more opportunities to skip certain sessions and pursue your own social, cultural or athletic activities, while the Pico 2 Playa Week offers an unforgettable supported wilderness adventure.

Been Around the Circuit for a While? The Pico 2 Playa Expedition Week is for you. The format of this week offers unstructured learning, improvement, and sharing among guides and participants, wrapped up in a great physical training opportunity. We create new teams of three or four each day to ensure a fresh perspective for everyone. Sharpen your weak areas, explore and share your strengths, and enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Double Your Fun, Double Your Improvement!
