Times, times, and more times!
We have updated the
leaderboard with lots of new times.
There are only a few missing right now, and I'm tracking
them down. We are also calculating time
adjustments for teams throughout the course, and we will
post rankings once we have completed double-checking
them. |
|
8/21 - 12:11 |
We have more times from the finish
line, and nearly all teams have completed the course.
Race staff report that they can see a team on the water,
and expect them to arrive in about 20 minutes. You
can see how the teams did on the
leaderboard
-- please note that
some teams have received time adjustments, which are not
reflected yet. Once we have received all of the
times from the field, we will update the leaderboard
with complete times and results. |

I have received times for CP8, and
I am pleased to report that all teams still racing have
reached CP8! It's only a short paddle from there
to the finish line! As I was speaking with race
staff, team
Stadium Dogs
arrived. They were in good spirits and excited
about how close they were to completing the course. |
|

07:05 |
We've got news about 3 more teams
crossing the finish line, and a blast from the past: CP2
times! You can add teams
Pure,
Crouching Saskwatch Hidden
Langford, and
IWS Racing
to the list of teams who have completed the race.
All three teams arrived before 6:00 AM this morning.
Although we already had reports
that all teams were past CP2, we just received the times
from the field. The
leaderboard
has these updated times. |
|
8/21 -
05:30 |
3 more teams have made it to the
finish line:
Helly Hansen,
Hurl,
and
Outdoor Pursuit.
We expect more teams to finish shortly -- stay tuned. |
|
8/21 -
03:27 |
Team
Wild Rose
has just arrived at the finish line, and we are
anticipating two more teams to show up within the next
hour or so. We also received some CP8 times, which
you can view on the
leaderboard.

We just got a call from the finish
line, where team
DART
has just arrived in first place! They are
expecting another team there shortly so I couldn't get
more details yet -- their finish time has been added to
the
leaderboard. |
|
8/20 - 21:15 |
As teams approach the finish line
in Nelson, we have a new team in the lead. Team
Helly Hansen has
passed
DART and
mergeo.com
on the water, and
arrived at CP6A at 20:30. 3 minutes later,
DART arrived and
quickly jumped on their bikes to keep the race close.
We have received word that team
One
mind/8 legs
is no longer in the race, but I have not yet heard
why.
The new times for CP6A have
been added to the
leaderboard.

New times for CP5 have been added
to the
leaderboard. |

As the
Salomon Adventure Challenge: Nelson has
just completed, communications are opening up again.
We just heard from CP5, who informed me that 12 teams
have now made it there, with 2 more expected shortly.
9 of these teams have already started paddling towards
CP6. We should be getting details regarding these
teams soon. The CP5 staff
also wanted us to pass on that there were some teams
that got temporarily lost traveling up towards CP2, but
it seems that all teams are accounted for and doing
fine. |
|
8/20 -
13:15 |
It's turning out to be a scorcher
of a day! Teams are battling the heat and
dehydration, and the lead teams have now made it through
CP5. Teams
mergeo.com,
DART,
and
Helly Hansen
have all made through the speedy bike leg and are on the
water for a long paddle. Only 2 minutes separated
these 3 teams when they left CP5. We have reports
that two more teams were right behind them, so it is
shaping up to be a very close race for the lead.
We also have heard reports that a
member from team
Holofiber Corporate
has injured his
collarbone. Medical personnel are examining him
right now, and we will let you know how he is doing once
we get word from the medics.
The
leaderboard has been updated with the new
times for CP5, and we expect more updates from CP2, CP3,
CP4 and CP5 in the near future. |
|
8/20 -
11:28 |
Fresh off the presses, we have an
update for CP3. It seems that the mystery shape
that team
DART
saw didn't really phase
them much, as they arrived in first place at CP3. Team
mergeo.com
showed up a few minutes later, and both teams left
towards CP4 at the same time. Both
Helly Hansen
and
Discombobulated
have also arrived at CP3. All of these new
times are up on our
leaderboard.

|
8/20 -
11:15 |
Team
DART
was leading the charge up the pass
towards CP2 in the early morning light when they saw
something they described as "a large dark shape that
moved". It seemed that it might have spooked them
out a bit, so they traveled in an opposite direction --
just to be safe. Whatever that shape was, it left
them alone, as they arrived at CP2 safe and sound.
Teams have been commenting about the incredible views
along the pass to CP2 -- make sure to take a peek in the
maps section.
We have posted
new
times for CP2 -- they are still not
complete, so don't worry if your favorite team isn't on
the leaderboard yet -- we expect more updates shortly. |

I just spoke with race HQ
and got lots of goodies for you.
It was true Midnight Madness at
the start of the race -- not only was there a band, but
teams were treated to the band, a juggling and
fire-twirling show, and more. The race was
officially started by the Queen and Princesses of Kaslo
at midnight, and racers were cheered by 300 residents as
the teams rode out of town.
We have also received some race
times -- make sure to check out the
leaderboard to stay up to date.
Team
Pure,
winners of the
2004 Raid the North: Silver Star,
arrived at CP1/TA1 in first place, with
DART,
Discombobulated,
and
Wild Rose
hot on their heels.

We just got our first report from
the field! The latest Raid the North
started in Kaslo with fanfare -- the town held a street
festival, and the the teams were treated to a real party
atmosphere -- complete with a band!
Of course, there was also the
usual last-minute magic: Lawrence Foster from
team
Holofiber Corporate
showed up at the start line without a bike seat!
Thanks to the generosity of a quick-thinking local,
Lawrence has borrowed a seat for now.
It's a full moon on the course,
which should help teams navigate quicker up to CP2 -- we
will let you know as soon as we hear from the first
teams there. |
|
8/20 -
00:01 |
Raid the North: Nelson has started
-- we will post the official start time as soon as we
hear back from HQ! The
first stage of the race is a fast 21 km bike to CP1. |
