Raid the North:
Charlevoix, Quebec
July 9 - 11, 2004
Frontier Adventure Racing returns to the Quebec City region!
After fantastic Raid the North races at Mont Ste. Anne in 2000 and
Stoneham in 2003, we are excited to be back in 2004 to Charlevoix
region of Quebec.
About Charlevoix:

With its majestic seascapes and mountainscapes, Charlevoix will
leave you spellbound. Feast your eyes upon the region's splendors:
steep cliffs, exceptional parks, charming villages nestled against
mountain slopes and the stately manoir. This enchanting spot has
long inspired painters, poets, writers and musicians. Imagine the
joy of heading out under an endless sky that extends from the waters
of the St. Lawrence. This magical region, home to Canada's
earliest holiday resorts, is renowned for its hospitality and its
numerous friendly inns.
Designated
a biosphere reserve by UNESCO, Charlevoix owes its magnificent
geography to a 15-billion ton meteorite that fell to earth 350
million years ago. Explore the region's two huge parks: the Parc
national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie, with its
valleys slicing through the mountains, and the Parc national des
Grands-Jardins, which boasts the taiga and the tundra. If you're
a hiking, cross-county skiing or snowshoeing enthusiast, why not
tackle the challenge of the Traversée de Charlevoix
(Charlevoix crossing), a glorious 60-km (37-mi.) wilderness trail
dotted with shelters in the Charlevoix hinterland, or the Sentier
des Caps (headland tail), with its awe-inspiring view of the St.
Lawrence River. Downhill skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers will
meet their match in the Le Massif, in the town of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François,
the mountain boasting the highest vertical drop east of the Rockies.
About Canyon Ste. Anne (our Host Site):
The Canyon of the Sainte-Anne Falls is located in the municipality
of St.Joachim, about forty kilometers east of Quebec City. It is at
the crossroads of the tourist regions of the Beaupré Coast and
Charlevoix. At this spot the Sainte-Anne-du-Nord River, springing
from the Grands Jardins sector of the Provincial Laurentide Park,
plunges into rocky gorges with vertiginous walls. It is an
ideal location to host a fantastic race! You can find more
information about the area at
